Kathryn and Aaron met in the most 21st century of ways - on a dating app. The two immediately connected over shared tastes in music, movies, and television. On-app messages gave way to an exchange of phone numbers and soon, a first date was set.
Their relationship nearly dissolved before it began as Aaron was exhausted from riding mountain bikes in north Georgia and texted Kathryn to reschedule. Luckily, he had the good sense to rally, and the pair met for dinner at Ration + Dram, which is still one of their favorite restaurants.
Conversation came easily and the hours ticked by. Eventually, Aaron had to call it a night as he was nearly falling asleep at the table. The two felt an immediate deep connection.
A second date came soon after, followed by many more. The two have been inseparable since that night in April 2019.
In October 2020, Kathryn bought a house in downtown Decatur and the pair moved in together. Their bond grew stronger through the trials of navigating a shared space during a global pandemic.
Early in 2022, the pair completed their little family with the addition of their golden retriever Boone.
All that was left to do to make it official was for Aaron to propose. On Christmas Eve 2023, Aaron asked Kathryn to marry him while Boone stood by as a witness.
